About Us
Founded in 1975 by Army Korean War Veteran Ralph Nasatka, Nasatka Security was born from a clear and practical challenge: how to stop unauthorized and hostile vehicles from breaching secure facilities. That vision took shape when federal authorities sought a reliable, engineered vehicle barrier solution to protect sensitive government sites in Washington, D.C., setting the foundation for a new approach to perimeter security.
Over the past five decades, Nasatka Security has helped shape the evolution of vehicular access control and vehicle mitigation systems. As security needs expanded beyond federal facilities, our solutions evolved as well, supporting municipalities, critical infrastructure, transportation hubs, data centers, corporate campuses, financial institutions, and high-traffic commercial environments worldwide.
Today, as Nasatka Security marks 50 years of innovation, our focus remains firmly on the future. Through engineered design, tested performance, and site-specific solutions, we continue to deliver perimeter security systems that address modern vehicle-based threats while supporting operational efficiency, scalability, and long-term resilience.
History
History
In response to a request from the FBI in the mid-1970s, Mr. Ralph Nasatka Sr. assisted in the development of an anti-terrorist vehicle barrier for restricted areas to mitigate vehicle-borne explosives. The first of its kind, the active vehicle barrier (AVB), was installed at the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where it remained operational for over 20 years.
After the Marine Barracks bombing in Beirut in 1983, Mr. Nasatka experienced an emotional moment that prompted him to revive the original barrier design. Soon after, he performed the first DOS steel-plate barrier crash test in the United States.
The awakening events of 9/11 and the formation of the Department of Homeland Security prompted the global demand for perimeter security solutions to skyrocket. In response, Nasatka increased its efforts to innovate its solutions and exceed the standards for prevention of vehicular threats.
In 2019, Nasatka announced a merger with longtime partners at Apex Fabrication and Design in Boyertown, PA, which moved all product fabrication into the United States, making Nasatka one of few in the industry to do so.

More than five decades ago, physical security was often reactive. Today, it is a core component of operational continuity, safety, and compliance across both public and private sectors. As vehicle-related risks and access challenges have evolved, so too have the expectations placed on perimeter security systems.
At Nasatka Security, our approach has always been grounded in engineering, performance, and real-world application. From our earliest innovations in vehicular access control to the advanced perimeter protection systems we deliver today, we continue to adapt, designing solutions that meet current operational demands while remaining flexible enough to address emerging needs.
Now entering our 51st year, our focus remains firmly on the future. We are committed to advancing vehicle mitigation and perimeter security solutions that support a broad range of environments, from hard-target and critical infrastructure facilities to high-traffic commercial and municipal applications, without compromising functionality, reliability, or design integrity.
Thank you for your continued trust as we move forward, building on our legacy and preparing for what comes next.
